I’ve driven in over a dozen countries, nearly 2 dozen states and provinces and in more cities than I can count. In the developed world, I strongly consider Montreal, Quebec to have the most complicated singling and traffic patterns. It’s not abnormal for exit signs to only right at the exit with no prior warning, and have to cut across traffic like a jackass to to make the exit (otherwise you’ll have to drive another 30 minutes just to get to the next one and turn around with traffic).
Here’s what happens when you’re that jackass that changes his mind after committing. As much as I want to blame him, this is normal driving here...
I know where I’m going and even then, patterns change constantly as the whole infrastructure is literally crumbling apart. Example: you never stop under an overpass or highway here in case it collapses (yes it happens), some bridges are held together by tie straps (The Mercier) others are constantly being fitted with new beams (the Champlain) and well.. potholes get big enough for cars to do flips.

All the more reason why this is, despite coming from a sci-fi movie, is one of the best pieces of driving advice on the planet.

They just drove off. No seeing if the person was ok, not a care in the world. Just “sucks to be him” and off to somewhere else. smh

Everyone does that here and I don’t get why haha. I usually stop and use my vehicle as a blocker to prevent others from hitting the crash. (A distance behind the vehicle - hazards on, cones out (people - please carry foldable cones and a safety kit in your vehicles- and wheels pointed to the barrier).

yea...using a motorcycle as a blocker isnt very high on my to-do list. i usually park it AFTER the crash and go back to help

I agree, I’d rather someone just cut me off rather than the ‘half cut me off and stop blocking the road’ .. it’s at least predictable.

On a motorcycle yes, that’s the best way to do it. Most people have enough trouble spotting one in front of them let alone seeing one stopped seems impossible for some people.

The exit in question has an advance warning sign half a mile away. The Mazda driver waited too long to get over.

I would have stuck around to make sure his insurance company got a copy of that.

I accidentally got routed off the highway without seeing any prior warning and couldn't manage to get back on. But then again, I don’t speak a word of French. Turned out to be for the best, we just left the car and took the Metro.
